Charlotte was born in the Washington, D.C. area and was exposed to the art culture early in life. After moving to Florida, the Ringling School of Art and Museum offered the same inspiration with shows of the masters and the trend setters. After periods of no time, or no money she finally met an artist couple - George Burroughts and Marilyn Bendell. She modeled for them for years, took a few classes and learned a lot about color as she modeled.
In 1986 she took an art class at Tom's River Community College in New Jersey. Part of the curriculum was New York City gallery tours. She has seen Monet, Renoir, Picaso, Van Gogh, Cezanne and many more. Abstract is not her favorite - impressionism is.
Charlotte says, "I'm not very good at drawing. I enjoy pushing the colors around until it looks like I have a good drawing underneath. But Gene Snowden's art teaching talents demand more. I feel my horses are appearing more proportioned, and maintain more color for life."
"After all the exposure to great orginal masters of art, it is wonderful to finally be painting on a regular basis. Matesse and Cezanne are my favorites. I like their bright colors, composition subject and line. Cezanne, the father of modern art, gives me inspiration to learn to draw better and Gene Snowden will more than likely make me."
