Landon, son of Gordon and Sally Hedges, is a native Benton Countian. He attended Camden Central High School where he participated in the Art Club and won prizes at the Benton County Fair. Being a natural artist, he did not need much formal training. However, he did attend classes at MTSU in Murfreesboro during 2000-2002. The Greenway Trail in Murfreesboro served for much of his inspiration and his paintings of the scenes there reflect his love of nature.
He was an active member of the Rutherford/Murfreesboro Art League from 2003-2006 and taught several classes in watercolor technique. He was especially happy when the Murfreesboro City Hall hosted an individual Art show in the great rotunda during the month of September, 2004.
Tragedy struck in February, 2005. Landon suffered a massive stroke and it was not sure if he would regain any motor function at all. However, he has worked on his therapy and began painting again after only 8 months. His recent paintings have focused more on the Smokey Mountains which he loves to visit and photograph.
More recently, at the 2007 Benton County Fair, Landon won First Prize in the General category for his painting “Down Home at Cades Cove”. He also won Second Place in the Landscapes category for his painting “Bridge Over Lytle Creek” (a scene from the Murfreesboro Greenway).
He is continuing to paint and is accepting commissions from individuals when requested.
