John was born in Lorain, Ohio. One year later his parents moved to California where John grew up through earthquakes, rock and roll and the Cold War.
He has been painting in oils since he was seventeen. In his early twenties he painted a lot of murals in acrylics. John became engrossed in the world of art. He had two galleries, taught art three days a week and made all the Palmer Shows which covered several states including Hawaii.
It was too much! He dropped out of the art scene - quit painting, teaching and showing his work - for over 15 years. Instead, he built classic cars, street rods muscle cars and restored old tractors.
Around 1996 he finally started painting again and making a couple of big shows a year.
John currently lives in Puryear, Tennessee where he paints portraits in traditional realism, as well as other commissioned works such as murals, animals, cars, tractors, trains, motorcycles, airplanes, landscapes and still lifes.
John says, “I hope you enjoy my work.”
