Inspired by the wonders of nature and the beauty of the eastern Tennessee mountains, Jan found it hard to resist painting them. She has studied under several well know artists including Polly Newell, Urbin Bird, Raymond Williams, Tony Couch and Ann Cooper.
After moving to the Paris Landing area in 1998 she devoted her skills to painting the lake, fish, lighthouses, eagles, florals and also does portraits.
In 1998 Jan produced her first limited edition prints for sale to the public. To date she has four retired prints and 10 still in print.
Her deep Christian faith has lead Jan to include a scriptural message with some of her art which opened up a whole new meaning to her work.
Jan has traveled all over the United States in the past few years, which gave her new ideas for her work. She winters in Florida where she started using Acrylic as a medium. Her first love is watercolor.
