| I am still intrigued by technique and continue to labor enthusiastically to ever improve my skills. The challenge of creating ascetic composition, authentic form and color, plus a desire for a degree of mastery over my medium, has proven to be a dominating and motivating force behind my work. I have never failed to be amazed by the joy I experience with each and every finished produce, marveling at the beauty of oils and pigments arranged systematically and artfully on a canvas. My paintings, which are representational in nature, and purposing to be ascetically pleasing to the eye, strive more specifically to speak to the nature of a higher way of thinking and living. I believe in a life motivated and surrounded by harmony, peace, and tranquility; a state of being I prayerfully desire for myself and others. A godly state of being I believe exists inside each of us and is most definitely achievable. Thus, my paintings tend to be void of chaos and confusion. As a result of careful technique and often (but not always) symbolic composition they point to a wholeness and completion, denoting a sense of solidity and permanence, pleasing to the soul as well as the eye. Painting the portrait has always been my favorite genre. I try to use my art as a means of expressing my love for people. I believe in the good in all people and want all people to believe in themselves. I believe in the potential of humankind and lay claim to an incredible amount of hope for the future. The belief of a “Kingdom within” each and every person, where one is ONE with his Creator, possessing the power to rise above all fears and limitations, affords me the confidence to remain hopeful and inspires me to love. While my portraits are naturally expected to reflect the outer likeness of the individual, capturing a certain time or age, it is this inner “Kingdom” I strive ultimately to expose on canvas. It is my hope that you will be captivated by this inner light that deliberately radiates outward from the portrait and be motivated to a greater love for your fellow man. |
